Aquatop Canister/UV filter Reviews and experinces

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi.

I've just ordered an Aquatop CF 400 for my 85 gal with a solo flower horn.

Recently I have experienced some water quality prob. So i decided to upgrade then I started looking out for some options and AT CF 400 seemed as a very good call for just 97 bucks.

I havent recived it so far so when I get this in my hands I'll write you my impessions.

Cheers.

I own the 400 and I love it. I'm a firm believer when a canister filter fails half the time it's user error. My filtered a canister 75 with no problems. Very easy to clean aswell

I will keep an eye open for that too!

Its been 6 weeks since I installed my ATCF400 and still keeps water in mint conditions, I only perform regular water changes and do one shiphoning every week and that's it, filter is working as a clock, i dont think im gonna service it until at least 4 more weeks have elapsed.

I recieved the filter in mint conditions with all its stuff, nothing was missing.

I had no problems to prime it, because I filled the filter 3/4 then I put the lid on it secured it and just needed one push and it immidiatly primed!.

Outflow seems pretty strong , I dont think this filter loses much outflow power once filled with media, it can easily be pumping close to the outflow they say it delivers.

I have been thinking about buying another canister as backup just in case, you know, but as I have read so many good reviews on this one and now I have experienced myself this thing works fairly well I decided to order one more but now under the Sunsun brand, it is the same product only cheaper that the units sold under aquatop brand. lol! in that way when time to service comes I will install the other one completely prepared and just remove the one to be serviced and thats it. Of course I will use some of the mature media inside the one that has been running, it will make the cleaning process much easier and the filters life will be longer as with each changing I will take my time to perfeclty clean the removed unit up and grease it up with food grade silicone grease.

Cheers.

I have it.. that's actually my picture that you posted in the original post..

It's a good filter for the money. Tons of room for Bio and mechanical filtration. I did a mini review a while back, it should come up in a search.

The tank in the pic was a 50g (48x18x13). I used this filter with an AC110. I now use it on a 125g along with an FX5. Still going strong.

Im getting a 180 or 240 soon and I might just buy a couple of these. Keep the positives coming!

I've got the CF-400UV on my 75 gallon and have no problems. I don't know if the priming button issues are only on the CF500 or what, mine works just fine on my CF-400... Never had any problems with it, and I can actually find replacement foam (it's cheap enough that it beats cutting bulk foam) for it semi-local.

Think mine was just a shade over $110, but the store I got it at runs a little bit high on stuff usually...
