Are you thinking about trying discus...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sorry, i forgot to mention that i took out the parrot so i only have 12 discus. I also understand by rule of thumb 10G per 1 discus, but they are different sizes and hope that 's not really over stocked. In regard to water change, i do it once a week, i am changing it tomorrow.

Yeah. I'd still say 2.5+ammonia is very high for discus.
So maybe just boost up the water changes.
I know 100gal is a lot. so maybe do like 20% every other day. with a massive 50% once a week until the tank is cycled.

use something like this:
http://www.petco.com/product/111072...e-Lift Special Blend Aquarium Bacteria-111072

to help boost up the speed of nitrifying bacteria

I did water change and used seachem stability, zync stress and prime. i'll do wc the way you suggested.

Thank you,
MKD

I did wc on last Sunday and today again in the morning. I tested in the evening and ammonia is good at zero but nitrite/nitrate is still high. do you think i am the end or close to the cycle? also does nitrite/nitrate will low very soon or any affect to discus??

Thank you all,
MKD

well, discus are probably the worst fish for an un cycled tank. 12 fish put a big load on your filters. my suggestion is to do at least 50% wc every other day. I have 8 wilds all between 5 - 7". my tank was cycled before they were added and I still do 50% wc's twice a week. I know it may be a pain, but you started off badly and if you do anything less there is a chance you will end up with stunted fish. your fish are beautiful and deserve the best from you. they are small which means you should be feeding them 5-6 times a day which makes large wc's even more important. you are overstocked but your main concern for now is to get your water where it needs to be. good luck.

In the tank there are 3 BGK, 3 Clown Loach, 3 Discus, 2 Red Malaysian Mahseer (still baby), 5 Guppy, 2 Yellow tetra and 1 featherfin squeaker and 4 tiger barb..can this fish get along? I just get to know that tiger barb is fin-nipper..how long they can get along? it is because i'm not at my home for a few days..please help..are discus will survive for this few days?
