Flavour? If anything, cichlids dominate most competitions. Even just a crappy photo of a pair with fry often makes it near the top. In TOTM for the past few comps we had one Monster tank (Ray's and gars), one long planted tank and a tall planted tank with a different style. No discernible TOTM flavour there.
