Baby electric eel care.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Are all of your bases covered legalwise though if something happened? i find lungfish more pleasant to work with and be able to clean the tank if needed. An electric eel theres just too many issues.
What do you mean legal wise? Like if someone else got hurt or if I got hurt? They are legal to keep where I live, if that’s what you’re asking

Ohio Fish Rescue has a 3 foot electric eel in a 6 foot long 125G tank and it looks just fine.

I definitely want to house my baby in a smaller tank and grow them out but I also want to have their forever home almost done if not just completely done so that when they reach a foot or two in length I can let they go wild in a huge tank

What size tank were you thinking?

Yep yep was double checking as some people dont check if its legal in their area or state. (Had to ask)

Some exporters will not sell them to hobbyists (theres always other sellers) or have restrictions in place before selling them so had to ask.

Maybe carrying an extra liability home insurance would be a good idea lol in case your friends wanted to be an idiot (we all have that not so bright friend/relative)

Cant wait to see what you end up doing for its set up

Yeah I am excited for when this guy gets big but I definitely have friends that are not going to be allowed alone with the eel. Some peoples children 😂. I’m excited for the set up too, I’ll be sure to make a build thread

Oh sorry I misunderstood. I have a 10 gallon set up . And a 20 gallon already set up and I have a 75 gallon for him in a couple months but it’s not set up yet. Depending on how tiny he is I might put him in the ten gallon but most likely he will just go straight to the 20.
