Baby oscar growth rate questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm about to sell the koi no offence to koi keepers, but I don't like them. So with three kois gone it'll be better all the fish are right now small when they took big il donate or sell them

What appears to be not tight by your estimation is not what the Oscars are feeling. Territorial cichlids need space, even when small. When they dont get enough space, stress induced ailments will occur. More so with small fish as immune systems are not at peak value. Tankspace, clean water and good diet are VERY key in raising Oscars. I learned that a very long time ago, and 44yrs of Oscar keeping has proven it so.

The space is plenty and I do a 50% change every week

One sentence your asking for help in the other you say "I know what I'm saying"

This has me a little confused as well...

Lets bypass all the assumptions and skip straight to it.

What are the two tank sizes, not feet but total gallons? What is the current stock, not what its going to be but what it is now?

What are the parameters eg: temp, no2, no3, gh, ph, so on and so forth.

Its hard to want to help when you ask a simple question like "what's an Oscars growth rate?" And in your next post you tell us you know your all good.

Not trying to he an ass but if you'd like help, expect to have people not only answer your original question but put input and ask questions on other things as well. Everything asked such as tank size, mates, parameters all has to do with correctly answering your questions.

My experiance with Oscars is the more space initially the faster they grow. My baby Oscars in a 75G(4' tank) grow out tank, had 6 oscars and a jewel cichlid, All were under 2". The tank seemed fine and they grew about an inch a month. So 2 months and I moved them all around, they grew steady and pretty quick compared to the other fish I have had. Now with a new batch of Oscars, maybe 5 months old. They have caught and outgrown my older Oscars who are about a year old and 8" now. Main reason, size of the tank and water changes, feeding as well. I switched to Hikari Bio Gold, and their colors just look that much better. The grow out tank for 4 Oscars was 110G tank, still small for a full grown Oscar and they will be split up soon as my new tank is fninshed cycling. No one here is trying to bash you or question what you say, though it seems like a small crowded tank for maximum growth rate, it is a fact that the size of the tank and amount of fish go hand in hand with growth rate. Varied diet has helped as well, for me. Just my experience so take what you like.

As for your questions, the water parameters can't tell because we don't have testing kits in Pakistan, the 4 in a half feet aquarium is containing koi and baby sharks along with one Pleco, and Albion walking catfish, so the kois are about 8-12 inches, which I am going to sell, for now I have nothing in my seven foot tank, except 10 colour tetra, so I am go gin to remove the colour tetra, and put a baby rtc and fireel and oscars along with the albino walking catfish, when they get big enough, so I was talking about the koi not saying that I'm good, I was trying to tell u guys that I'm going to sell them, the tank is still overstocked but atleast they are baby's. I can't tell u in gallons because honestly don't know sorry but here are the lengths,, it's 4 in a half feet by 18 by 24, and the other one is 7 feet by 20 by 24
