Barramundi perch, Lates calcarifer, 24"+ in 4500 gal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
In my head, When acclimatising or mixing water of differing ph, 50% of each won’t necessarily mean a figure half way between the two starting figures because ph is a logarithmic scale. Depending how different they are to start with will dictate how much water is needed to make the change.

It seems the pH always drops a lot in shipping due to the exhaled CO2 and is often around 6, more or less.

While adding new water, it is also important to keep taking out water from the acclimation vessel so the fish remain very close to the surface to have plentiful oxygen. So that skews the linearity of the water mixing.

Cleaned the sump on this tank, one of the bank of 6 on the same sump. Long overdue. Didn't help the newcoming barramundi but now should be great.

Growth is from 6" to 8"-10" in 1 month:

Barra want to eat the leporinus in the 1800 gal, so the latter have to go:
