Best Aquarium Heater

I've been using AquaTop with pretty good success. I have a 200W in my 29, a 75W in my son's 10, two 300W in my 220 (w/ 55 gallon sump), and a 300W in my 55 gallon aging barrel. I used to have a Top Fin 50W in my son's 10, but it got stuck on and cooked the fish. The 200W has been working well in the 29 for almost two years (knock on wood) without a controller. When I replaced the heater on my son's tank to the 75 W AquaTop, I also installed an InkBird 308 temp controller to act as a secondary shutoff in case the heater gets stuck on again. My two 300W heaters in my 220 are set to 86 but the temp controller that they are hooked up to is set to 82, so it controls the tank. The 300W heater in my water change barrel can bring the whole 55 gallon barrel from 59 degrees to 80.5 degrees in about ten hours.

I would strongly recommend using an InkBird controller on each tank to have a second level of protection against a heater failing on. It is about $35 for the InkBird 308 on Amazon (I've heard of some issues with the 306) and it is capable of keeping the temp with a 1 degree differential (my 220 is set at 82 so the heater comes on when it gets down to 81 and turns off when it gets back up to 82). It also has programmable alarms (I have my low temp set at 75 and my high set at 90) to alert you to problems with the temperature. It is extremely easy to use and is complete plug and play (I have to use an outlet splitter to connect multiple heaters into one heating outlet), and is rated for up to 1000W.

Thanks for that information on the Inkbird I picked up a couple for my 90 and 125 builds. I'm connecting them to Eheim Jager heaters. I've had good luck with them in the past, back to the old non-submersible ones.
