Best fish tank divider for Eigenmannia

Hi,

I was wondering if you guys have a best brand/type of fish tank divider for a 20 gallon tank with juvenile Eigenmannia.

A lot of the commercial dividers are suctioned to the sides but the gap between the divider and the side it is suctioned to allows the Eigenmannia to move freely across the divider which is NOT what I want.

Do you guys know of any dividers that seal the gap between the divider and the side of the tank very well so that Eigenmannia cannot fit through?

I use Egg Crate (Light Diffuser) you can get a 4X6 panal at home depot or lowes for 15-20 bucks

Have any of you tried the LifeWithPets dividers or the Top Fin tank dividers before? I am thinking of getting them but am not sure how sturdy/reliable they are.

Same here.
In my fry tank I cover it with a pad of filter floss. Nothing gets through that - except water.

I personally just use mattenfilters. Expensive and not-so compact (plus, draining/refilling pulls the mulm and debris from the sponge, clouding the water), but I still like them.

Because cichlids are strong, I zip tie egg crate together in ways that reinforce under, and on the sides, and place heavy rocks to secue them under substrate.
I notch out areas to be form fitted on the frame, for snug fit.

and cut escape sections to allow room for smaller females to move unhindered, larger males don't fit thru


I realize not your need, or application at this point, but...
