Best Piranha set up Need Ideas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
what kind of decor to use is really a personal choice, go through the media section and see if there's anything catches your eyes. if you worry about they kick up sand then use small gravel but if they want to they could kick up those gravel too. if you go with pool filter sand they sink down pretty fast compare to play sand so you shouldn't have issue with filter sucking up sand. and unless you have HOB filter then you shouldn't really worry about it as filter pad will filter out the sand before they get into return pump in canister/wet/dry filters.
if you get them at 9" then 3 would be it, personally I wouldn't add anymore unless you are willing to upgrade.

Hmmm. Doesnt seem that deep to house 3 9" Pygos. Pygos prefer a tank that has more width.

3 is generally a bad number for pygos too. Get a 5 x 2 x 2 and take all 6!

paint the back ground black use natural rock and one large peace of drift wood in the center.

k what kind of black , enamel or flat black, also what should the lighting be i was thinking t5 but what about a marineland led system are those good

Not contribute?

I'm sorry - but 3 Pygos dont work well together and the tank won't be big enough to house them as they grow.. How does that not contribute?

Paint the back of the tank with whatever black you can get. It looks the same. Make sure it is 100 percent acrylic. For decor get a one or two Pieces of malaysian driftwoold and tie down anubias or java fern plants to it. Put the wood in the center or if two wood. Put one on left side and one on right side. Dont worry about caribes being skittish either. They are fearless and not skittish at all. You would have to be a horrible fish keeper to have skittish caribes. Use sand or small gravel or sand and gravel mix. And also throw in some larger rocks in the mix to have a multi textured substrate. Just keep it natural looking and you will enjoy it. 3 caribes in a 72 gallon is a bit small but others have done worse so plan on upgrading in the future.
