Hope you can succeed in removing it so we can have a laugh together over the photo.
The best humour in life is always about your self!
yah, you say that now..afterwards you'll have no respect for me...but here goes. uploading now...
through the doors looking down into the bottom portion.
(the door has already in place for replacing bulbs in the chandelier, but i enlarged it by adding hinges to the side directly opposite the original door. my soldering job is also...laughable. sorry for the blurryness, but all the brightness in this intersection is solder. my first soldering attempt. also my last thus far. :\
looking from inside down to the bottom where i needed it to be water tight. sigh.
the reason i went so overkill is because i was told that the metal seams had a possibility of leeching stuff into the water that could possibly hurt animals. I had no way of proving this, and the person who said it admitted they had no idea if it's true.
I put a piece of glass in the bottom and siliconed it into place with the idea of a false bottom vivarium, so only the bottom portion had to be water tight.
The only way to hit all the edges was to stick my whole head and arm into the viv and silicone from that position. Well the fumes got so bad I almost passed out several times. I finally just stop worrying about how it looked and just went buckwild on the bottom portion with the idea of blading it off later.
I siliconed all the seams from top to bottom, then went over most of it with a razor blade.
I made the silicone so thick that after blading the edges off I have big ridges. That's not really a problem since I dont want the whole thing to be waterproof. Just water resistant, and also not leach into the water (if it would. i have no idea for sure)
However the bottom portion, where the silicone is just laughable is so thick and nasty, i figured it'd be better to just kill it and start over. The bottom is the only place i need it to be water tight... As you can see, it's clearly water tight, but that thing is beyond ugly from the outside.
It's been about 10 years since i did this, and its been in my garage ever since. The silicone might not be good anyway.
God i'm embarassed to even look at it...
