Oregon, it's part of 'Murica!
Local store has some Kirin Parrots I have been wanting for a few weeks now but they came in with popeye so I never grabbed them. Store doesnt know how to treat it appearently so was thinking if they will sell me the fish at cost then would do it myself.

Whats the most effective way to tackle this?

Popeye is usually the result of a bacterial infection. You can try treating the fish with epsom salt, or you can use a bacterial medication.

What I don't get is with popeye, the socket also bulges and with this its only the eye as if its full of fluid. The other one seems to have a deflated eye.

Picked both of them up from the store, hopefully can cure this myself.

Try not to buy this type of fish cause even cure it will still come back after a while. Medication is more expensive then buying a good fish

I had an oscar I rescued with popeye. Kept him in a 55 gl by himself to treat as the medication was pricey. I used Marycn I & II in sequence. Followed by Tetracyclene. Worked like a charm. Daily water changes, raised temp, and medicated food. The smaller the fish/tank, the smaller the medication cost. Good luck.

Wasn't the local stores fault, I had them order the fish from their wholesale. Half came in fine and half with eye problems, so the wholesale/breeder is to blame. When the bad ones came in they were at deaths door, they treated for bacterial infections. Three weeks later they were fine and perky but the eye never cleared up. The the guy that works there said he didn't think it was popeye because the socket wasn't bugling, its as if there was built up fluid between the eye and the lens.

Heres a video of the one when he was in the store

Hard to tell from the video....if you had a quarantine tank that you could devote to just that fish and you feel like spending the money on the meds I mentioned you could give it a shot. Best of luck to you.
