13 - Now here is where it gets interesting. And this might bring many of you "cichlid" fans into betta now. I'm going to talk about half giant and true giant betta here. Half giant betta reaches about 3½", while the true giant betta will push its limit everything to 6"...even 7" if given the proper care and home!!! Now is it a monster??? Many of the betta keeper out there will highly disregard this and would careless because they would think I am probably making such thing thing. The "king betta" that you see around at your local fish store or pet store, those are all half giants. A giant betta and a regular size betta doesn't have anything much different, just that getting to reach the size that you wanted takes the betta home(tank size) into a whole different level from the regular betta. If you want to push a giant betta into a 6" monster, or even a 7" if your even lucky enough? I would highly recommend at least a 40 gallon long. Keep a single giant betta in there. And do the rest of its proper care and feeding like a regular betta. Search on aquabid, true giants hits near the $100 mark zone. I've seen a 7" for sale for $300 and is easily taken from the owner hand the next day. One problem about giant betta only, do you got the $$$? For a giant BETTA???

These 7" betta splendens do not exist. There is no photo or actual fish to back these myths up. The best possible explanation for these tales is that someone who is not familiar with wild types of betta saw one of the larger species at an auction and assumed it to be splendens. The large splendens/hybrid plakats we are seeing do have the potential to grow larger than they do, but you will never see a 7" pure blood betta splendens in your life on this planet. The end.

Prove me wrong I'll paypal you $15.00.

First of all, pure splenden is wild to be exact. The splenden you see now a days is all domesticated. Giant bettas is not something you will see very common, and all the ones you see posted online is only 4-5 months topping at 3-4". They fully mature in terms of coloration in 8-12 months but will grow still. A regular betta splenden itself, if given the proper space and time it will touch 3" no doubt. And you don't see any giant betta documented to be topping at 7" only because many failed to know the secret to boost their growth and they never had any success to keep a giant splenden to live long enough. The secret to boost their growth is upgrading their tank. From a pond into a jar, a jar into a 10 gallon, a 10 gallon into a 20 and so on. A buddy of mine owns a 6" giant splenden that he has kept alive for 5 years living by itself in a 40 gallon long. Now your telling me it isn't possible? Maybe Uncle Sala and the other founders of giant betta should give you a better explanation.
If my 10+ years of betta keeping has gain me some false and myth of the betta fish in general, I must be the most idiotic betta hobbyist in the world. ;)

You are full of it. Pics or it didn't happen. And you won't post pics because you have no 6" betta. The end. Stop these silly myths.

Not going to make you believe it, believe as you wish. I don't like to prove anything to anyone who thinks they know more. Take it up to the master of the master breeders overseas and they'll give you a better brief of explanation. Everything out there now is all pics or it didn't happen, this term is being over used and I am careless what you think. But I know what I've seen in the past 10+ years of keeping bettas. Provoking is never going to gain anything out of me. Maybe you should dig into betta so catch up with your knowledge of betta?
FYI - There has been 7" bettas recorded in IBC show before.
