BGK laying on his side!?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think everyknife does this. Ive had bgk africans centipede and even baby clowns done it.

Yeah, I'm almost certain they do. I have seen knife fish at the LFS even do it; and no the LFS is not doing anything wrong, it's just normal behaviour. My bgkf did it when I first got it too; now it never stops swimming around the tank.

BGKs are known for swimming and resting in awkward positions. If you're really worried about how he's resting, you can rearrange the tank decor and see how he rests with the new decor. Sometimes, they will rest upright to "fit" the space they are given. I have a large piece of driftwood that all my Polys and BGK would lay under and the BGK would be on it's side. When I rearranged the driftwood into a different position, the BGK is now resting up front and in a "normal" position.

Thnx Ben, it doesn't bother me how he rests that's really up to him, whatever feels comfy for him hehehe :D i was just worried if it's a symptom or smth or maybe an injury or that he's dying. You may remember i bought a pair and one of them died like a week or so ago, but i think it was my fault :( i wanted to clean his cave so i lifted the rock he was under and cleaned the gravel and made a big mess. After that he was staying completely hidden in the cave for 4 days with not even his tail showing, it was obvious he was very stressed. i still saw him sometimes at night coming out and i thought he will pull through but i found him dead on the 4th day. So normaly I freaked out about the other one laying on the side thinking it might b smth else :) I'm releaved now to know it's normal to do that
