If I did not test my water...

Do you do water changes?
Yes
What percentage of water do you change?
21-30%
How frequently do you change your water?
Every week
If I do not change my water...
...I recognize that I will likely be recommended to do a water change, and water changes are critical for preventing future freshwater health problems.
My Lapradei Bichir is currently suffering from this disease, only Lapradei, the other Bichirs are fine.
I am very worried because it seems to be getting worse and I have never encountered this case before, I also cannot find the name of the disease. Please tell me information about the disease, the cause and treatment. Thank you everyoneday 1.jpgday 2.jpgday 3.jpgnow.jpg

Would try dabbing the area with methylene blue and use triple sulfa.

Have never seen that before. Perhaps it’s an injury that got infected. I’ve had success treating large wounds by dabbing the area with betadine and applying liquid bandage to keep the area protected. Also dosing the water with antiobiotic would help.

I separated it into another tank, then used Seachem Polyguard, API Stresscoat (all at the manufacturer's recommended dosage). My Bichir Lapradei is currently in recovery, everything is going very well. Thank you everyone!!!

That’s great news. Do you think it was an injury or a disease?

I asked many experts but they have not seen it directly so they do not know. In my opinion, it could be a disease, because it has developed and spread to another bichir of mine, the cause could be because I often feed them raw food without sterilization. And trauma could be a part of the impact for the disease to form and develop.
In conclusion, I advise everyone to monitor and sterilize raw food before using it.
