How does having a smooth surface result in bichirs having red bottoms?
I would love to have substrate; but the overflow box in my tank is designed to have holes at the bottom which doesn’t allow me to add substrate, or substrate would be collected at the sump.

Im not entirely sure how they get red belly from no substrate, but ive seen it happen to few of my friends.

Contacted a fellow hobbyist and buying a Nigerian lapardei on the left. Thx krismos without you I wouldn’t have been able to lay my hands on it . Collecting it by next week

On the lookout. I want more lower jawed bichirs, like ansorgii, pbb and congicus. Soon I will get an army of them ??. Slowly….
