Now I've thought about it and was wondering....

Snakeheads, breath air, walk on land, and are big and predatory.....
Bichirs, breath air, walk on land, and are big and predatory.....

Why are bichirs not thought to be a threat when snakeheads are. just asking? US

bichirs dont get four feet long. when channas were banned they just signed a bill sayin ALL channa are illegal

how about this one ... why are asian aros illegal in the u.s because they are almost extinct but could easily be bred in florida and texas ,but long line fishing is legal when , swordfish , sharks and bluefin tuna breeding stocks are all being decimated and those fish CANT be bred in captivity!

Bichirs aren't as aggressive as snakeheads too. They are nowhere as predatory as a snakehead either.

I think it also has a lot to do with how much channa breed.

There are no Polypterus species that will tolerate cold water, unlike snakeheads.

b/c the few irresposible hobbyists are letting snakeheads go. swordfish, tuna, and sharks require thousands of gallons of tank space. i can get a snakehead now that would thrive in a 55g for a while.. long enough to breed and release them to where they would grow and Grow AND GROW. this isn't the first dilema american has had. look at the cod, the salmon, chinook salmon alaska, sea otter, sealion. the list goes on... beleive me i would love to own some blue galaxy snakeheads. but the few have runied it for all. try not to be pessimistic
