Hi I'm wondering where we are on this topic. I have a spare 40 gal rolling around and would like to know if a delhezi or senegal bichir can live it's whole life in one.
Depends on the species, but for larger bichirs, I'd prefer the foot print 3 ft by 18 inch over 4 ft by 12 inch since this would allow them to turn better. Of course if you can get a 75 g or any 4-6 ft by 2 ft width tank that would be ideal.55g should be the minimum imo.
I agree with this. I think for some of the smaller species like hao mentioned, They would prob benefit more with more width than more length. Any species growing above 15 inch, I would recommend a 2 ft width tank.Depends on the species, but for larger bichirs, I'd prefer the foot print 3 ft by 18 inch over 4 ft by 12 inch since this would allow them to turn better.
