I wouldn't use the term giving up on them.....That sounds like a failure. BUT, after breeding and keeping discus for a couple of years I've lost interest and I'm bored. I am switching to SA/CA Cichlids. I have 7 discus left (6 are over 6") that I am trying to sell off real cheap, but I won't ship them, they're too big.
Think the max size on record is 10" TL, but yeah, AAA discus have to be over 8" to even be considered for the category. What you've find in an LFS is definitely a rarity - but the stuff being breed in Asia is on a whole new level.
