Lovely. We get these from time to time, sometimes as pollutant in guppy dips. Watching a 1.5cm "monster" hunt juv guppies is pretty groovy. Will post wild pictures from the Frenchman's Cove creek, and some snaps from my tank a couple of years ago. Soon come...

PS: if you set surface structure (floating log, plant roots, floating plants) they'll "hang" in formation at a head-up 45degree angle. Looks great, and gets even better with a little bit of current. This species seems much more active than their Asian cousins.

Frenchman's Cove creek, SanSan District, Portland, Jamaica. This guy was about 8" long and was one of a loose school of about 5 of the same size. Roots are from a big Screw Pine tree overhanging the creek. Water is vaguely brackish down here, but I usually find these guys in full fresh even in this creek, right up and into the spring-head.

Same spot, a couple of years later. Here's the general habitat (bottom of stream, good flow & vaguely tidal) with the other ecosystem players: a couple of species of mullet including highly predatory black, Schoolmaster (snapper), a couple of species of predatory & benthic gobies, a damselfish, mojarra and herring.

The brackish (into fresh) little damselfish. Eventually I'll need to look up the name.... ;)

Same spot, new cohort of slightly smaller big-mouth sleepers.

And the big-pig. This fella was comfortably over a foot, and he knew it.

Same fella, new angle. Good pictures as he was not intimidated by the likes of little me and my shiny camera box.

Nice underwater photos could have done without the pics of the mullets and damsels though, other than that great shots.
