Nothing, parents will look after them, obviously the eggs aren't viable. Sometimes takes many batches before they are. Could be they just aren't mature enough, or many other factors like water conditions. If eggs turn white after couple days they aren't fertilized. Really not much you can do, waiting game and keep trying.

Like the post above said, new parents take a while before they get it right. Worth the wait since it’s great watching them parent raise

That being said, a rare few never seem to get it right. If that’s your case or if they’re breeding in a community tank or you just wanna try artificially hatching, just clip off that leaf and place it in a separate container of aquarium water. Add a tiny bit of methylene blue and an airstone and they’ll hatch in a few days. In a few more days, they’ll be free swimming and will need food.

How do you know that they are viable/not viable?

Are they a confirmed male & female?
2 females will also lay eggs. I've had fish that were bad parents but the male would still fertilize the eggs then they would get ate

Are the eggs staying a bright white? Or are they turning a tanish color?

If bright white they are not fertilized
If tan then they are fertilized. .

If the parents don't feel secure, they will eat the eggs to recycle all that energy instead of letting others..

Any other fish in the tank?

Yeah it’s a community tank and it has fire eels and gymnothorax polyurandons, but they are always in their pipes and crevices, even at night.

It’s a 318g but maybe I’ll set up a separate 125g for them to spawn.
