Well I'm in TN. Thanks for the replies once the wife & kids awaken, I'm gonna get out & about & grab about 3 bags. I'm gonna assume that should be enough for my 180. I also think I come across a deal on some wicked awesome pieces of driftwood, large with tons of shape... Gonna go check that out also & may scoop up a centerpiece.
 
I remember reading about your experience, i have opened and used 6 bags, and never came across the rods or oily residue. Maybe it is a region thing...i'm picking up 2 more bags next weekend, hopefully my luck continues.

Definitely lucky then. I really wish my experience was good. I am heading home to TN in a few months and might try to see if the BD sand they sell there is any good.

They have it at TSC... Just lady there. It's super super fine. All they had was the 30/60. I passed for now. It def looks good, but Im not 100% if I would like the final look of my tank if I used it.
