black gravel or black sand?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thats a personal preference but I personally like sand and its natural look with a black background. it works great in my tank. the only thing is the poo sits at the top. its easier to clean but its there for everyone to see haha. u have to also poke at it so u dont get it compacted and stuff

Just put black sand in a tank with a rd devil. Looks great, sand and black background...all I am worrying about now is how low I should or should not have my filter go...as she is already quite accustomed to tossing huge mouthfuls of sand all over the place

:iagree:

Go Chargers!

Anyways...I agree w/ marauders. I currently am using natual sand which looks great don't get me wrong but I wish I went w/ black sand since they do bring out the colors of fish.

What kind of fish are you going to be putting in the tank or did i miss that info? I like the sand also

I have sand in one of my 75's and soon I'm removing it. my fish love to dig in it and every few days my AC 110 with a shorter intake on it sucks up too much sand from them digging. I've had to replace the motor once already from sand getting into that and my power head. Sand looks nice but isn't worth the headache in the long run IMO.

Get a canister or put prefilters on the intakes.

Sand definitely. Even very fine gravel looks way better than regular. Regular gravel to me has always looked bland and boring, and can't even work with some fish..
