Black Nasty vs Grammodes(Mini Dovii) Which one is better?

Lol good choice. If I was able to then I'd prefer to keep haitiensus but as mentioned above only in an appropriately large enough tank.

I don't do tank, only ponds. Anyways, it's a hard decision for me since they're sold at the same price at 2 inches size.🫠

If your tank is only 5 ft long, get the gammodes.
If your tank is 6 ft long or more, get the haitiensus.
If your tank is only 4 ft long don't get either one.
If you want to keep other fish or other cichlids in the same tank, don't get either one.
But as newworld implied, one is no better than than other.

Is it because of the bloat? I heard compared to other cichlids, Black Nasty isn't hardy.

At first I kept haits in normal tropical temps of high 70sF, and bloat seemed common place with them.

I found an article called Oh Island in the Sun, Dominican Republic by Alf Stalsberg ,where in it, in places where they captured wild haitiensus, minimal temps in their habitat were in the mid to high 80s (F) were the rule.

Once I kept water temps in the mid to high 80s in their tanks, bloat became a non-issue.

Oh, that's great. I always keep my other cichlids in 80s tempt. Also that's normal temp in my country(only at the day, at night I use heater).

And which one would you recommend between the twos? Which one is more hardy and tougher?

I find they both are equally as fascinating.
That said, grammodes tends to be more shy, while haitiensus more interactive, and bold .

It's extremely hard to decide...but for now, the LFS just put grammodes on sale, so guess that'll be my choice, lol, I'll get the Black Nasty later next month for sure.

I have had both Grammodes grow slow and like everyone else said the are shy even when they hit that 8in mark but can be very brutal on tank mates.
I did my research on the nasties and kept 8 1in they grew fairly quick and were not shy and was also very aggressive and i would like to say also very manipulative
it was down to 1 male and 2 females the male hooked up with 1 female and the 2 of them killed the female then the big male turned and killed the first female.
Me personally i would go with a black nasty as i do miss my big male

I'll probably go for the grammodes, black nasty will definitely come, soon, but not now.
