My 125 Gallon tank crack due to an incident. Until I get my new 125, I used my old 55 Gallon tank to house my Red Tiger Oscar, Red Oscar, and Red Flagtail for the time being.

The 55 Gallon was already filled with water and no background. I wanted to paint the back of the tank black, but was too lazy. So I went a tried buying two BLACK POSTER BOARD and see if it would make a good background. I spent a little under $3 and This was the result!!! Amazingly, it looks pretty solid and nice! All I need to do now is get my some Pool filter sand and tank looks pretty awesome!!!!

NOTE that it is TWO poster board. I had to tape both ends together to make the full 48'' in length. I could not tell where the two ends meet. Looks pretty invisible!!!

PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS THINK!!!! :):):)

I'm really digging it! It has made me decide to get off my butt and do it finally. How did you secure it to the tank.

Just any regular masking tape will do the job! Just taped it along the black rim of the tank. And its pretty secured! The only thing you'll have to worry about is not getting it wet. Lols. But hey! its only $3 to cover the back of a 55 gallon :]

Yea I did this on my 90 a year back, can't beat a 39 cent backround, plus the poster board has a flat color side and a shiny side! I like the dark blue ones. Here's mine.

That really looks great, i would just sugest you leave it as bare bottom, with 2 big oscars and one big flagtail in a 55 gal itll be hard to keep clean without substrate. Really your decision tho and your tank looks great

Thanks man! This 55 Gallon is only a temporary tank though. Maybe once I moved my O's and flagtail into a bigger tank, Ima use this as a grow out tank for juvi cichlids

I used to use black poster board all the time.Either that or just a thin plywood board cut to the size of the back of the aquarium and painted black. Now I just paint the tank backs. Looks the same.

what kinda plant is that in there ? is it live or fake ? looks cool and i like it !

Its a fake bamboo plant. Lols, all plastic! imagine it with nice substrate and driftwood in a bigger tank, it'll look awesome. I only used like 1/3 of the plastic bamboo plants in the picture. You get a whole bunch of it for $10
