Black shark - Labeo chrysophekadion - 1 for 3; ~10" presently

Welp a couple hours down the labeo rabbit hole with your threads, and I’m convinced my gar is being attacked by my black sharks. Originally it was plecos, they were removed and fish started to heal. Now new marks are occurring and I have seen the big shark dart out and attack the gar one time. The gar is at least 3ft and black shark maybe 15”. Ended up being given 3 black sharks at around 4” 8 or so months ago. Didn’t do much research. Had all 3 still up until a couple months ago one must have got eaten by a red tail. Down to 2 left and it’s about to be zero if I can’t figure out a better place for them or the gar

I Iliketurtles Sounds plausible that it is the shark plus you witnessed one attack. They can be strange in choosing their targets but seem to favor rasping slow and oblivious ones.

I'd imagine a 3ft (alligator?) gar might try to eat a 15" shark.

Yeah you would think so, I mean one of the three did go missing but I’m pretty positive it was one of my red tails. I don’t believe the gar has eaten any original tank mates, it was the last fish I added to a already established pond and I swear it made a deal with the current residents to keep the peace 😄 because any other fish I’ve tried to add since does indeed get attacked by the gar. After a 14” peacock bass got wrecked instantly I stopped adding fish. Now my red tail has recently eaten a 16” peacock bass and 12” Oscar so the gar and catfish are going to be separated to another pond I’m being forced to set up. Either way I need to get the gar away from the sharks or get rid of the sharks, which I don’t want to do
