Blind catfish?

Good point, any catfish you can think of that would be affected by loss of eyesight?

Generally you can say the larger the barbels and the smaller the eyes -> more dependent on smell.
Also the other way round.. Smaller barbels + larger eyes ->more or dependent on sight.

Ok so basically a cat like tsn with small eyes and long barbels could live its natural life blind. But on the other hand a cat like sun cat or id shark could not service due to its short barbels and dependants of using it sight to find food

I'd say thats about right...although a sun cat would probably be alright as well. id sharks swim around alot and that alone might be an issue. I once caught a 10 lb channel catfish out of the hudson river that was completely blind. It certainly didn't look like it had any trouble lol

A lot of times with big cats in the wild their eyes are all clouded over and sometimes damaged heavily. Doesn't even phase them.

Not only TSNs are nocturnal and maybe crepuscular, their habitat water is usually quite muddy. Their (healthy) eyesight is weak at best.

This catfish species is blind and uses feelers to navigate.

Seems one of the pacus toke a bite out of it. I have to go back in the morning so ill take some pics of the eyeless tsn.
