hey bro where abouts in nsw u live coz i would really like to get a male off ur unkle an do u have any high quality flowerhorns i like the one in ur avatar is it urs?

The trick is to use a male Red Devil. Why would you want to breed standard Parrots anyway ? There isn't a big demand, and you can just buy the one you like.

Big demand here and they sell for about $25 a piece for smallish size. I can't think of the last time I was in lfs and they didn't have blood parrots.

I happen to love BP's.. they are pretty common but very difficult to breed. I believe the standard is to just use a non BP male to fertilize.

I am pretty sure all 3 of my BP's are males.. so no luck there. :(

I'm not saying I don't like them, I have four. If you breed your standard Parrot to a Red Devil you will have K.K.P. You can breed a Midas to a Syn and get standard parrots if that is what you are after. I personally think if you are going to spend your time and tank space on a breeding project you should have a positive goal. You could spend your time trying to breed standard B.Ps Which might not ever happen, and are at every pet store any ways, or you can breed King Kong Parrots with a whole lot less trouble, or if you feel ambitious you can breed your Parrot to a Carpentis and try to make Red Texas. In my opinion these are both worthwhile goals. A nice K.K.P or R.T sells for more than $25.00, and your L.F.S might actually want to buy these from you, if it's about making a dollar. That's all I was trying to say, I didn't want to say it in so many words though.

Although it would be nice its not a steadfast goal. I'm just astonished that it's never been done before. Makes me think it's impossible with out some sort of unnatural intervention. I always end up with two females protecting eggs together. Very cool and confused fish!

Yup cousin picked up some baby parrots in milwaukee off craigslist a year to two ago, asked me if I wanted one but I said no. At the time I didn't know the significance of those babies so I didn't really care about it. Now that I know the implications I can't find the parents anymore, cousin moved and all the babies are dead (his gf ended up taking them). They were all about 1".
