She is a female. I thought all male Quads had the red spots on their claws, including the blue variants. Have you seen some without them?Yabbadoo;2495662; said:Is your Quad a female or a blue variant of the normal Redclaw???

Here in the states around the area I live C. Quads that are totally blue are actually more common than non-blue ones. I believe the blue crays are easier to sell, so more of them are imported than the non-blue variations. Its also harder to find a male C. Quad than a female, probably for the same reason.Yabbadoo;2497836; said:I should have read post better.... Female...
Nah.......Just trying to breed some coloured variations. I selected some juvies that were a little more coloured than the rest of the bunch. Blue'R males & the females were on the pinkish / red side. As they're gowing they're going more normal coloured howerver....
Never seen a total blue Quad before.....Very cool!
They eat their shell after they shed it, so maybe if your cray hides a lot its happened and you just haven't seen it. How long have you had it?freshwaterz;2493715; said:ive never seen my blue crayfish molt. i dont know how old he is either though.

Yeah, it would have been hard not to notice the size difference after mine molts. So far she has gotten at least 1/3 bigger after every molt....2X bigger for the first three or so. Maybe your water is too cold...I've heard that can cause problems with shedding. It really depends on what species you have though. Do you know what kind it is??freshwaterz;2501908; said:bout 2 months.
i doubt that he's molted because he hasnt changed in size at all.
