just imagine a giant royal pleco. Mine isn’t too outgoing and has only recently started feeding during the day. He hides a lot but goes to town on the driftwood at night. I’ve always loved the contrast between the bright blue eye and the dark body so I picked one up the first time I saw one available.
it’s the most territorial pleco in my tank but at 13”, that’s to be expected. He’s good with smaller plecos, but fights a bit with the ones closer to his size. Nothing enough to kill any, but territory spats end up with the smaller ones coming out with split fins.
I’ve never had an issue with him (or any pleco) eating slime coats off other fish but I keep him well fed. Various fruits/veggies and pellets.
Less than a common pleco but since it’s so big, you definitely see it. I’ve got enough bottom feeders and circulation pumps that stir it up so it doesn’t really settle.
I get more chewed saw dust than I do noticeable poop. I can hear it chewing at night. Love the fish.
Easy to care for, the only downside I've had is that other than a pair of L114s that I've got, this is by far my most aggressive pleco.
