Looking to pick up a nice pleco for my tank and was looking at the blue phantom L128. Are these good algae eating glass cleaners? If not, can you guys give me some good options. Thanks in advance.

Ironically, i picked one up yesterday.

So far, he seems to hide and stay around the driftwood, i will let you know if i see him cleaning glass.

In my experience they aren't the best for cleaning glass when they are smaller, as they get bigger (5" or bigger) they will be more bold and more effective as a glass cleaner. But this all really depends on the tank mates you keep the pleco with, if they are to aggressive then the pleco will most like only be active at night, but it will still clean the glass just not as effectively.

BN plecos are the best glass cleaner type.I have 7 blue phantoms and they are not into going on the sides or eating algae.

I have never seen my L128 on the glass whereas my L177 is on it all the time.

Yeah he seems to hide most of the time, he will stay on the glass but only to hide really. I wouldn't consider this a could candidate for the op.

Nonetheless, a gorgeous pleco IMHO....although if there's an abundance of hiding spots, you prob wont see em too often.
