Bonding Acrylic to Acrylic which "glue" is safe to use?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use Weld-on #3 and #16 for my patchwork and diy sumps. Works like magic. I always thought the liquid weld-on was called weld-on #4....:grinno:

i'm fairly sure my liquid is #3, and #4 is slightly thicker liquid, but i will check tonight when i get home

Weld-On #4, but if it's hard to find, Loctite Marine Epoxy also works. Home Depot has it.

Reef-keepers sometimes use marine epoxies to attach coral frags inside their tanks. It dries non-toxic, at least, I haven't heard of any problems. Note for looks: the epoxy dries to a pale gray color. And it's pretty strong . . . just from being curious, I once glued two scraps of acrylic together with a dab of loctite marine, and couldn't get them apart, even after hammering and trying to pry them with a crowbar.

Getting boggled down with "weld on" "glue" as I am going to be ordering pieces of acrylics and putting them together to form more sable shelf system for rock placements (pixs/diagrams to come later on when I get everything together)

I know this post is old, but were there any picture or diagrams posted? I'm in the process of building something and looking for ideas.
