I dont know where you come from buddy but the question we asked is commonly asked to people who sell anything no matter if it's a T.V, Car, or Shark. The question was asked out of couriosity and not ignorence. If thats the case then maybe we don't like you asking "Why not sell it".

Sorry for jacking this thread. I just don't like people jerking my chain. :irked:

not trying to jerk your chain....:chillpill:

so are you considering buying it?

Well. garman.

A few helpful tips.

For a bonnethead - I would personal recommend a shark pool that's at least 15' diameter & at leat 3-3.5' deep (about 4,000-4,600 gallons).

It should cost at least $4,000 for pool, salt, sand, & filtration.

Then you need to allow the tank at least a month - to mature(ie Nitrite, Nitrate, & Ammonia levels all zeros).

Also make sure the specific Gravity(SG) - 1.020-1.024 & the water PH - 8.2-8.3 are at the currect levels - before even thinking of getting a Shark like this.

So would a normal metal framed swimming pool be good enough or would it not be safe for a shark? I live in Canada and we have harsh winters so an outdoor shark pond would be completly out of the question. I was thinking about buying a house with a large basement and setting it up in there. I would insulate the room very well and plastic all the walls before I drywall. I would drywall it with water resitant drywall (same drywall that you put in your bathrooms) and paint it with Kitchen and bath paint. I would then make sure I had a good floor drain with grooves cut in the concrete all leading to the drain so that any spilt water would find it's way to the drain. I would also install an air exchanger/dehumidifier to eliminate the humidity problem. The sharks pools you guys talk about, can you only see down into the water or do you have viewing windows on the sides?

DON'T DO IT - unless YOU WANT TO KILL the shark.

The toxics in the paint & drywall - will most like do the poor thing in.

Yes, a metal framed swimming pool is fine so long as the metal doesn't come in contact with the water. Make sure you have a thick plastic lining between the saltwater & metal. Actually better still - would be to take the swimming pool, build a fiberglass around it(on the outside), then put the metal frame - outside the fiberglass. Of course, you could also have plastic windows(view ports) installed into the pool, if you like.

Personally - Justin - before building your shark tank. I recommend highly that you search the 'net for plans to build large fish tanks(and most will work as shark tanks with some modifications). I've seen plans on the internet were people have built custom tanks that range from 1,500 to 50,000 gallons. And all were pretty cool looking.
