Goldfish aren't worth breeding as feeders. As for newlove4fish's question; I suppose they breed them in very large ponds. You need to give goldfish a very large breeding area.

Goldfish start to spawn at about 4" and need a cold period (winter), then they spawn in the spring. Separate males & females and start feeding better quality foods & black worms etc.then reintroduce them. Several 20% W/C's will usually get things going. Give them something to lay their sticky eggs on like a spawning mop. after the eggs have been laid in the mop remove it to another tank set up to hatch the fry. Goldfish will eat their eggs.
In open ponds gfish are hardier and therefore easier/cheaper to raise.

Yeah, a guy came into my work to get some Butterfly Koi and told me he had a 500g pond with koi/gold fish in it for a few years and they never spawned, but he released some into an actual pond (huge) and he said they spawnd like Krazy. So yeah you might need a bigger setup.
goldfish breed like mad in my outdoor pond, and the fry grow to an inch or more in a few months, I had to put a channel cat in the pond to do crowd control. my pond is about 2,000 gallons and full of natural foods. feeders you find in stores are raised and bred in large outdoor ponds, they spawn about 4 times a year.
Dont get goldfish if you are looking for cheep easy feeders. Just get a male and female convict. Look for the orange markings near the belly, that means she is a female, then all you have to do is wait and they will breed. Convicts will breed in a puddle if they had the chance. good luck.
I need to get some convicts. I wish I could say that I have issues with crowd control. My fish just generally kill each other.

So all you self righteous morons replying about ANYTHING other than how to breed goldfish need to learn to read..
stripping goldfish in a sauce pan.........Mix the eggs and milk..........Leave the fertilized eggs in a 25-55g bubbler half filled.....eggs hatch 3-4 days later...........
