Breidohri growth rate

I've got a breidohri, rio salado, that I got at around an inch. Grew an inch in a month, slowed for a month or two, then shot up to 5 inches in less than 3 months, got very aggressive. I've been told by like 3 people that he is a very irregular individual. Got him from tuic. It is in fact a he, and he has very strange features other than his growth rate. He has the blue pearling and pink throat of rio salado but no pink undertone, only grey. He's around 5 inches long. His fins are also very amphilophus like, as opposed to the normal vieja finnage where the fins make sort of a dome shape, his fins do that thing where they curl up and come to a point. Did I just get "lucky" with a weird individual?

They look like breidhori to me.
I grew out some in a cichlid community of a 150 gal tank, until about 5" . At that point all other cichlids had to be removed as they spawned and became quite aggressive.
From then on the tank was completely theirs, no other cichlids were tolerated.

Just got 4 of these this week approx 2-2.5".. Growing them out with a small group of smaller A. siquia Rio Tempisque.. I plan to settle on 1 male or possibly a pair. I'll be watching your progress to know what to expect...

He was completely peaceful up until 5 inches. I don't think convicts will stand a chance once yours get to that point.

That (5-7") size seems about par for when male new world cichlids become territorial.
Once they hit that size, is when instinct sets in, and chaos begins depending on species, tank mates, and tank size.

Yeah, I'm prepared to move the cons if / when needed.. It's a 5 foot tank and I got some hideouts in there now and got some more driftwood soaking to add more hideouts for the cons... I really just want to end up w/ a solo male breidohri, maybe a pair for a little while.. but wanted a little activity in the tank while they grow out.. If it works great, but if not I got enough tanks to adjust stocking.
 
Awesome specimen Kevin!! They're already my favorite along w/ my Istlanus.. Looking forward to watching them grow!
