Ummmm yeah......He doesn't have it any more....But I know who does......

SO what you are saying is that even though they are worth more dead than alive, they are in captivity in the US. All I was saying was that if you look long enough and pull the right strings, you can get anything you want whether it is a Broad snouted caiman or a crocodile tegu.

Thanks for proving my point.

How many are in private hands in captivity? You just proved my point - The buddy system only works if your in that circle of people who have the animals, but aren't willing to let them go to anyone outside of that circle......Even if they have the resources to do so.... -

The AZA is probably the best example......

So again, who has them, and better yet, who's offering them for Private consumption?

AZA is not a private group and they are monitored closely by the gov't so they CAN'T let animals get to someone outside of that group. If they did they would likely loose their credibility and it would suddenly become a lot more difficult for them to obtain their CITES permits or whatever other permits. I don't think that was a good example.

Also, If someone has an animal, regardless of if you are friends or not with them, they will give it up for the right price. It's that simple. You don't have to be "in a circle" at all. Know where to look, and have some money ready and you can get ANYTHING you want as long as it is extant.

Actually, you are wrong.

It doesn't matter who your friends are, it doesn't matter what circle you are in. What matters is how much cash you have.

If you have enough money you can get any animal you want. Want a komodo? whale shark? albino porpoise? show me the money and I'll get you one, and do it legally.
