This question may have been asked, but I can't remember...

Is that the maximum hight of the water?
As of now, yes. It's 3'-9" deep, but if I fill it to the top it's 4'-4" deep. I actually wanted space from the water line to the top of the glass for viewing the top area of the tank which will eventually have branches, vines etc. hanging above the water line, and to not stress the glass 100%. If I want to make it higher I can just modify the overflow so that it's another 6"-7" higher.

nice wizzin!!! got any front shots? also what kind of lights are you planning of hanging over it?
It's tough because there is a wall perpendicular to the tank that prevents you from standing far enough back to get a straight on shot. Plus, as you can tell, my camera BLOWS. My brother is a commercial light supplier, and he is supposed to be bringing me a custom designed CF hood that I designed. It's 102" long and holds 6 34" t-5 H.O. tube fluorescents. They're only rated at 5000K but I'm not going to be trying to grow any crazy plants, so I think it will be fine. I thought about putting one MH in the center but I'm not sure it's necessary.

Hollerrr! I know it's never finished, but that must be a great feeling to have climbed (swam) over this milestone. MFK should put out a bulletin for all those who haven't checked in to see.

Congrats on the awesome tank man!! I thought I was the first to think about over hanging branches for silver arros to pick off their prey but obviously not. Archers would be cool for that to, some food for thought maybe.

I was thinking about the cover and came up with an idea that may or may not be a good one. Instead of using something as solid as glass etc as a hood, you could use like a thick plastic sheeting material like the liner used for ponds but of course is transparent, that way it has some give and won't hurt the fish but should be strong enough to contain them.

I know this is a bit late but one way to measure how much water is in your tank is to get a container that you know the volume of. Example a 10gallon drum. than fill up the drum and time how long it takes to fill. E.g. say it takes 1 minute. Than using the same flow rate time how long it takes to fill the tank. Say it takes 100 minutes. 100minutesx10gallons= 1000gallons.

Not saying it will be that simple but you get the idea. May need to break it down to seconds etc.

Anyway you are giving me motivation to get my plywood tank started, which will be near exact dimensions.
