Drill two holes, have some one build you a glass pipe and there you go.

Or you could get a custom tank made that looks as if the train is going through the tank while in reality its simply just under it.

We scratch papered that one out too. One really expensive tank.

how about adding a propeller to the engine.Hide inside of corse. I am sure they make remote controll boats that have water tight seals. take the motor and seals and hide them in the train. It just has to look like the train is driving in the tank. Hobbie store might be a great place to start. good luck

battery operated train. every car has a battery, all of them connected to the motor, for long run times.

well if its going from one platform to the next and only a straight shot. I think its doable. what I suggest is the acrylic tube and a plywood tank might be the best bet. This way you can leave a small gap on one side of the track just big enough for your hands to fit just incase the train derails in the tube.

What the train layout would be would be it would be normal giant HO scale train set layout with the giant train set taking up a whole room and then for the mainline to run stright though a stright fish tank tube though the fish tank to the other side once the train crosses the fish tank it would link up with the other train set in the other room on the other side.

Here is what it might possibly look like if it where built into a fish tank

The link does work on the otherside is a photo of the railroad tracks going into the tunnel.

Your project is a very do-able thing.
It really boils down to 3 things that I see. How much 1] time, 2] effort and 3] money you are willing to spend.

My suggestion to you is to contact an acryllic fabricator, take your tank and train set-up idea down to them and hash it out as to the size of your tank (L X W X H). Show him what you want to do. Figure out with him what you're going to have to do to make this endeavor of yours a reality.

But it will not be cheap. Tha tank alone will be a butt load of cash, maybe 5K just guessing, taking into account what you're planning on doing with it. Also too, usually the bottoms of the tanks are thicker than the sides, front and back. But like I said earlier, take it all up with an acryllic fabricator. They should be able to put you on the right course to get it done right.

Here is a photo of what the basic idea would look like when it is built. The train tracks go though a tunnel opening on one side of the fish tank and come out the other.

It sounds like on this forum that the idea could work out in a custom built aryrlic fish tank. But could this idea work out with aryrilic tube running along the bottom of a giant plywood tank or a cement fish tank's bottom?
