OMG and I thought I had a love of fish, I have serviced some big tanks but none even close to that size. Great thought and follow through on the project, thank you for thoughts and followup of possible problems one might have with this size of a project.

I would really love that tank... but... um no... it's a great idea and all, but I love watching my fish, and by the pictures is seems REALLY dark in there... did you do any substrates? or... lighting effects?

All year we have been removing some of the existing lights from the 52K and installing base plates (2x6) with lag bolts on the wall opposite the glass panels. We also built steel supports to fit into the existing window access panels. To install the steel supports the 3 1/2" angle iron frame for the viewing glass had to be drilled. Noel, Richard and Nikki worked in inflatable boats in the tank installing the base plates. Nikki also gave painted steel supports with POR 15.

Here are Jeff and Scot drilling the Steel angle iron window frames. We had already burned out a hammer drill and 2 good bits. I lowered the water in the tank about 20 inches (about 10,000 gallons) to make it easier to drill the steel.

It was so difficult drilling that I decided to come up with a wooden support system instead of the steel ones and this meant replacing all the doors also.

Still working on the new lights. 3 biology students/fish hobbyists were over helping me and continued working on back plates and adding to them so that I have them coming about 4 1/2 inches out from the wall. We used stainless steel lag bolts and stainless steel wood screws.

The helpers are Eric, Jeff and Jocelyn aided by Richard and Nikki.
