Hi Everyone

I Hope you had a great Christmas and best wishes for a great 2011

I had 2 baby motoro stingrays born in my 15,000 gallon tank Dec 13.

Richard went in and caught them both a few days after they were born.

They stuck themselves to the floor of the tank and he had to use a spoon to get one of them un stuck so he could get the net under it.

Catching the first one along the 18 foot side of the tank

catching the second one and needing the spoon on the 28 foot long side of the tank

Congratulations on your new baby's!!!
Thanks

It is always a thrill to get baby stingrays and I was surprised that we were able to get them out before the cuban gar (Atractosteus tristoechus) or others had either eaten them whole or just killed them outright.

You breed many fish in the bigger tanks succesfully?? obviously lot of cichlids
I've seen breeding activity with several species but few eggs hatch and very few babies survive. The filiament barbs bred a few years ago in the big tank and about a dozen babies survived which was amazing. A few adults from that hatch are still swimming in the big tank today.

The only other time baby stingrays where born and survived was a few years ago in the 15. The babies never did very well and although I raised them to about 12 inches they both died after 3 years.
