Building proces of my 21 feet long concrete aquarium

This looks like a challenging project. Full suspended slab pour over an open basement isn't easy! The wall thickness is 300mm? The rebar on conners doesn't appear to be well tied in those photos.

Is the filtration an open (gravity fed) or closed (pressure) system ? Any water jets/returns in walls? Bottom drains? How will you heat? How will you waterproof? Is this a glass or acrylic panel? Will the background & decorations hide pumps & pipework? Will you use skylights & natural sunlight through third story roof? Will there be a quarrantine tank as part of the set up ? What do you anticipate the biggest challenge to be?

Looking forward to updates. I'm sure the house will be beautiful too.

Wall thickness is 300mm indeed. Wall thickess at the side of the window is 350mm.
Rebar in the picture is not the final result.

Gravity fed.
Returns/overflow are in wall installed and not visible.
No bottom drains.
Waterproofing is done with multiple layers of epoxy.
The panel will be a glass panel - 4 x 19mm (0.75inch) bounded together.
No pumps visible.
I'll use natural sunlight. At the first floor of the house, there will come a technical room only for the aquarium. Natural sunlight will come in from a big window in the roof.
Probably I'll make a quarantine room, but I don't want to keep to many fish in this aquarium.
Biggest challenge, keeping the waterparameters where we want it is pure chemistry. My passion starts with the chemistry of the water.
Challenge would be to know how water parameters react in reality vs in theory.

Cheers

Can’t wait to see it filled
I see your plan is to do a saltwater set up
My questions are what kinds sea life will be going in here ? Will it be a few larger fish or a lot smaller fish and some kind of reef rock for decor ? And will it be heated ?

going with my previous comment ??

Very cool. As you are considering natural lighting from a sky light, check out solar tubes. These use highly polished tubes to direct the light. I have one in my hall bathroom that has no windows and even on cloudy nights I find myself checking the light switch to switch off the lights.

Amazing, I was looking at this on reef 2 reef also!
Can’t wait to see it filled up!
When you can’t find space on the house for a tank, build a house around the tank ;)
