I am keeping him in a 55 gals now with a baby red tail catfish. And that's the maximum I can get for now because I have another 175 gals already and my place has no more room for another bigger tank.
I will keep him until he get big and then I will give it to the zoo or aquarium or something.



notice I said 300G at the very least, and you may actually need to upgrade if he gets any bigger than 24". those guys can get to 40" long in the wild and just as deep! average size is usually about 24" in captivity, though. you must make sure they have very thick glass or acrylic because they are so powerful that they can easily shatter glass when they are bigger. they are also quite active, further warranting a huge tank.
red tailed cats can easily grow bigger than pacus. you need to think about getting rid of them quick.
