They're both 18 inches deep. I have a big piece of plywood that is the same size as a 75 gallon tank I can put on top of the 40 breeder stand and put the 75 on top. Anyone see any issues with this?

It's actually a 100 gallon, which is 1/4 inch deeper. It's filling with water right now, I'm going for it!

edit: FYI this is one of the thick-glass tanks. It was heavy as hell. I'm not nervous to be out the money or for the calamity of cleaning up 100 gallons of water, I'm more worried about the safety of my girlfriend and my dogs and I. Obviously I'm not that worried, because it's filling as I type this.

personanlly I wouldn't do that. Your talking about approx. 800lbs of water on a stand that was meant for less than half that.

I'm no engineer but I've never liked for tanks to overhang their stands. It can't be good for the weight that is involved. At least you added that plywood but how about taking it a step or two farther and placing lengths of two by four under the corners to support the ends of the tank better.

Just build one. wood's pretty cheap.

That looks sketch, try a 18$ cinderblock stand, definitely strong and you can cover it with fabric.

F1 is that your tank? Why not just use a single sheet of plywood cut to size rather than those cut pieces between the bricks and the tank?

I wouldn't do it...

That stand isn't meant for that tank, not to mention that the outside edges of the tank aren't supported, which is the most important area for support on a glass tank.

It may hold I'm not saying that it wont, just saying I wouldn't have it setup that way in my house; it kind of looks like a catastrophe waiting to happen.
