Can I take my coconut crabs from Hawaii to California

Just do it anyways. Tell us how it goes.
As much as I think it would be funny to read “boy faces charges for taking coconut eating crab” I highly do not recommend it and mfk is not responsible should you ignore the majority of the advice given to you currently and attempt to transport a coconut crab away from Hawaii.

Can we get a pic? I seriously doubt there is a spot that has tons in Hawaii. Your talking about Birgus latro right? I’m thinking I’m gonna see a pic of a hermit crab...
Imagine that...coconut crabs listed as endangered yet they are invasives in Hawaii.

Well technically they are invasive here because they are not native. But no worries. Let the locals in Hawaii know and we will make them extinct over here in a hurry. By catching them and putting them where they belong wrapped in ti leaves with some... I mean sending them back to were they are endangered that is. ?

I too have thought about how tasty their meat might or might not be.However,I have eaten land crab(not coconut crab of course) before and I wasn't all that impressed to say the least.

Given that it takes them 5 years to become sexually mature I'm a bit suprised they're a problem.

I’ve eaten coconut crab before... wasnt too bad, meat is slightly sweet...

This site out of Hong Kong says they can export them into the US. Sounds like the most legal option I'd love to have one.

There’s currently a thread going on about that site.
