I had a nitrate spike and bought Nitra-Zorb to help out after a 50% water change. I placed it in the filter Saturday and today the water looks like someone washed a chalkboard eraser in it!

Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I checked the water parameters just now and everything is fine I just don't understand what happened! I removed the Nitra-zorb pouch though just in case.

did you by chance forgot to rinse out the pouch before placing it in your filter?

I did rinse it out, I placed the nitra-zorb in a bucket of water to see if it clouds the water in the bucket as a test.

hmmm, that was my first hunch. not sure what it could be now. let us know how the bucket test works

I definately will, I know I washed it out for like 30 seconds, who knows maybe I should have done it like for a minute!

well checked the bucket and the water doesnt look cloudy to me! Dunno what could have caused it, checked water parameters again this morning and everything is fine. Looks like a massive water change is due!

Well I removed it and set up my FX5 filter! After a water change and such the water is clearing, but i lost a yellow lab :(
