Not sure how many people have heard of Vanta Black, which is basically one of the darkest, most flat / matte blacks available that can absorb something like over 95% of all light that hits it...

Anyway, it seems now car manufactures such as BMW have caught on and found a way to turn this material it into a car paint and started using it on their cars, which begs the question, is it really a good idea considering your car would basically disappear in the dark, not to mention you lose almost all the cars silhouette from side and or front view...

Non the less though, still quite an interesting idea, although who here would consider painting their cars Vanta Black if they had the option to???

I always thought that blacked out Vehicles were owned by people that are too lazy to polish the Chrome.

This will probably be an expensive option on fast cars, because the paint absorbs radar instead of reflecting it.

They will eventually make it illegal.

The military version absorbs even more light than what BMW shows. Very stealthy.

I’ve been waiting to see how long this would happen and now it’s finally happened. This will have a lot of use if/when they start putting it on cheap normal cars.
Now, the wait for vantablack paint for houses begins...

I think some countries have already made it illegal due to visibility issues, especially at night...

But yes, you are right in saying it is definitely not a cheap option as far as paints go... although exactly how expensive i have no idea...

Same, i heard about Vanta black a few years ago, but at that time it was said to be a highly toxic substance and mainly used for large telescopes that are used for looking out into space...

I guess they finally found a way to make it non-toxic (at least when dry) for use on cars...

If the government is smart then they won’t allow this any further, the potential for crime using this is great.
On the other hand, I could use it for my own personal benefit.

I'm surprised to see it's a car paint, it's usually very very expensive. But definitely a terrible idea
