Catfish Stung Me!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We live near a lake and I do a lot of fishing in the summer. In the early summer there are numerous schools of baby bullheads cruising the shallows. A friend of mine decided it would be funny if he kicked through the swarm and sent a bunch flying on land, but instead he ended up with 5 small (but painful) cuts on the top of his foot. I know I'm his friend and all, but seeing him run to the swarm like a little kid playing 'godzilla' and then tuck tail running (hobbling rather) and screaming like a little girl to shore was too much. I laughed all the way back to his house.

yeah ive gottan stung by plenty of channel cats and flatheads when fishing the local lakes but i have to say the best one was actually a shock for my E-cat,ive been told theyre about 110V but ive realy larger ones pump out around 350V...its kinda a sting

Lol great stories thanks for sharing. I felt a slight pain the following day and then it just vanished. I did think if something was left in my thumb because it felt like a sharp glass was buried within after the attack. But I haven't seen anything and there's no pain at all. To be honest I even began to think which one of my thumbs got stung by it lol because there was no pain whatsoever. So I began to massage both of my thumbs to see which one brings back the stinging sensation....none.

What an experience, there's no way I'm going to mess with a Catfish. If an attacking fish receives it from a Catfish, that fish would die right? Or feel an extreme pain...to see how a tiny 2 inches cat can make me feel that much of pain and to think of a fish receiving that..wow.

I got a question. If the catfish's spine falls off or partially fall off, will it ever grow back again? I've seen a Raphael in lfs that had both his pectoral fins partially gone and I was feeling sorry for him.
