I think that what you are describing are millipedes and not centipedes. The centipeded have long legs and antenea. If these little black critters have extremely short legs and little if any antenae, I believe that you are dealing with millipedes.
I have attempted feeding these to my fish also but have never found a taker yet. I was shocked, but the same thing seems to hold true for daddy longlegs! I would have thought them a super treat, but have yet to see one of my fish nibble for a taste much less chomp on a daddy longleg!
Centipedes are not poisonous, they are venomous AFAIK. As long as they do not deliver their venom into bloodstream, they cannot kill a fish. I highly doubt they could sting a fish underwater.
