i've heard this channa is the rarest, is this true? if so how much can these be bought/sold for? thanks (:

You are talkng big money for true barca.
1000s of dollars.

There are 2 members of these forums I know of that own Barca.

I was chasing up an offer of a Channa Barca here in Japan a few months ago. They wanted 25,000 yen (about 2500us dollars?)
I wanted to see them in person. They turned out to be Channa Aurantimaculata, the picture the seller was displaying on their advert was a Barca.
If you can find a genuine Barca (not the stewartii version) you are looking at serious money.

I have one and can confirm the price. I really don't think they are that rare, I think it's a marketing ploy. Nox and Amphibeus are species where only one example has been recorded.

my guess you are looking 3500. us $ for a true barca

a few grand is quite pricey by anyone's standards, anyone know any info on the fish? lifespan? behavior? frequency mating?

im considering finding one but im not prepared to spend a ton of money if the fish only lives a few years and is not able to reproduce in captivity

Also, does anyone have a pic of a nox or amphibious, ive tried searching them but i couldn't find any actual photographs

Have a look on thesnakeheadforum.com, I have writern an article on there. They will easily exceed 15 years lifespan. There are only a few pairs in captivity and none have been bred yet. You would get the same personality and behavour although in a smaller package from an Aurantimaculata, Barca 30"+, Auranti 16". They are also alot cheaper. Some people think better looking as well.

There are no real live pics of amphibious only a preserved specimin and there is one pic of nox floating around. Google channa nox and go to the usgs.gov link.
