Are Channa lucius communal? Or at least, not overly aggressive towards their own kind? I have a 5" one in a 3ft tank, and I'm wondering if I can keep them as a group - a local LFS has more in stock (and going fast!). Also, how big do they get? I've heard 25cm, but I don't really trust that source. Sorry for buying on impulse without doing research beforehand; I just couldn't resist taking home at least one that day.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: After looking at some members' pics I think mine could be C. maculata. Mine consistently changes colour. Is this a trait of C. lucius? I'll try to get pics but this fish hides all the time. However, its head is rather pointed, like a pike. And if I'm not wrong, "lucius" is Greek/Latin/whatever for "pike" or something...? I have no idea, really.

yup, c.lucius can change color depends on environment and situation. I've mix my lucius before with other fishes, and i've success mix them with their own kind, same sp.

they get to Maximum size: 40 cm / 16 inches with regards to the colour/pattern changes associated with growth this is common with most S.H.

I don't see the maculata pic. Anyway, what about their temperament?
