Theres a freshwater Resivore about 20 minutes from my house thats full of channel cats. I was wondering the average AQUARIUM size and tanksize for this fish. Ive seen the pictures of the huge ones caught by fisherman, but assume this is unlikely for the aquarium. The average size of the fish in the resivore are around 20 in. They would be going into a
240 (8-2-2). Anyone info is welcome.

never gonna last. even in aquaria the will beat 3 feet easily.

If you get a Channel Cat from the reservoir its best to have a pond for one. But they sell small blue and albino channels at coral fish 2-5" for 5 bucks

They grow huge, very quickly. (I've found that they grow slower from 1" to ~4or5" then grow incredibly fast up to 15-20", and usually slow down around there, however these cats get as large in aquaria as you see fishermen catch out of the reservoir. If you start with a 3" channel from a petshop you'll need a pond in probably a years time, if you take it out of the reservoir, you'll probably need a pond in a few months.

They are great fish though, I have three (a 3.5" a 6" and a 12" - two albinos and a blue) so if you are willing to get a very large tank or build them a pond I would say it's worth it. If you're not, then Id say leave the fish in the reservoir.

Here's some pics of mine

I have seen 2 2'ers in a 220. they weren't to cramped but the guy had a 600gallon indoor pond he wasn't using yet.

The only reason they wouldn't grow to a large size is if there is a genetic defect or they are severely stunted, and you don't want that.

so, im guessing its a no.

KuricX you know of any other nice sized species of catfish (1ft plus) thats available out here in hawaii that would work in a 240. BUMP
